Trichot cottage is a 3 bed property for long term rental situated in the grounds of Chateau de Trichot, near the hilltop town of Tournon-d'Agenais on the border of the Lot and the Lot-et-Garonne departments in south west France. This is a stunning rural area of France, located just below Dordogne and in between the towns of Cahors and Agen. Bergerac-Dordogne airport is 1 hour away. Bordeaux is 2 hours to the west and Toulouse is 90 mins to the south.
The cottage is very well-equipped with a spacious open-plan living room, a downstairs double bedroom and 2 bedrooms upstairs. The cottage has a large fireplace and even has a baby grand piano. Surrounding the cottage, there are the large grounds of the Chateau, with views across the vineyards towards Tournon-d'Agenais.
Trichot cottage is available for rentals between October to April from €1200 per month + bills. Pets may be accepted through prior agreement (limited to one medium size dog).

The cottage is located within the grounds of Chateau de Trichot, a magnificent 12th century French castle surrounded by 18 acres of private land. The cottage is laid out over 2 floors and comprises an open-plan living room, 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
Ground floor
You enter into the large living room, which features exposed beams and travertine floors.
- The fitted kitchen is equipped with a combination oven/microwave, induction hob, kettle, fridge and plenty of storage space. The cottage has a full set of plates, cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils.
- The lounge comes with a comfortable sofa, Flat screen TV and a large wood burner in the original fireplace.
- There is a dining table with seating for 4-6 people and a baby grand piano.
- There is a large double bedroom on the ground floor, with a vanity sink and fitted wardrobes..
- There is a guest WC under the stairs.
First floor
- Bedroom 2 has beautiful exposed oak beams and a solid wooden floor The bedroom comes with 3 single beds, bedside cabinets and fitted wardrobes.
- Bedroom 3 is fitted with 4 single beds, fitted wardrobes and a chest of drawers.
- The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, a wash basin and WC.
Outside
- The cottage is set in the large grounds of the Chateau de Trichot which featrues a large swimming pool, tennis court, lawns, vineyard and mature Cedar trees*.
- Behind the cottage there is a small terrace and lawned garden. There are also places to sit out in front of the cottage.
- There is parking for 2 cars next to the Chateau.
* It should be noted that the swimming pool, tennis court and grounds are primarily for the use of guests staying at the Chateau (although these can be used by customers of the Cottage when the Chateau is unoccupied).

The cottage is available for monthly rentals between October to April. The normal minimum rental period is 3 months. In addition to the rent, there is a monthly provision of €150 towards the electricity, water and Wi-Fi. The prices quoted are based on a 3 month rental period. Cottage for long term rental South West France - Our Opinion
Last visited: July 2024. The cottage has a fabulous setting in the grounds of a French Chateau. Inside, the cottage provides comfortable accommodation for a winter let and will ideally suit a couple with frequent guests. Nearby is the hilltop town of Tournon-d'Agenais, which has plenty of shops, restaurants and services. The location is also very handy for reaching the local airports in Bergerac and Toulouse, as well as the TGV train stations in Agen, Cahors and Montauban.

The rental is for the entire property. Any shared facilities are listed in the property description. The prices quoted are based on a 3 month rental period. Higher prices may apply to shorter rental periods. Utility bills and communal taxes are payable in addition to the rent.
One months deposit to be paid at time of reservation. The rental rate is to be paid prior to arrival (for reservations of 3 months of less). For longer rental periods, the rent can be paid in advance on the first day of each month. In addition to the monthly rent, there is a provision towards the utility bills, firewood and communal taxes. Minimum stay is usually 2 months. Prices will vary according to the duration of your stay and the season. Pets may be accepted through prior agreement.

Château du Trichot is located in a beautiful part of south-west France, with the Dordogne to the north, the Cahors vineyards and Quercy National Park to the east and the forests and limestone plateau of the Lot-et-Garonne to the west. Major towns in the area include Bergerac to the north, Toulouse and Montauban to the south and Agen and Marmande to the west.
Nearby you have many sites to visit including the stunning hilltop town of Rocamadour, some beautiful castles and fortified towns (such as Chateau de Bonaguil and Chateau de Duras) and 2 of the prettiest villages in France: the hill-top village of Monflanquin and the 13th century village of Villereal, with its famous weekly market.
The nearby village of Tournon-d'Agenais has a cafe-restaurant, a small supermarket, epicerie, butcher, hairdresser and 2 boulangeries.
Other transport
There is a TGV train station in the nearby towns of Cahors, Montauban and Agen.

The nearest airports are located at Toulouse (90 mins) and Bergerac (1 hour)

Château du Trichot is located 35 mins to the A20 motorway (which runs from Paris down to Toulouse) and 40 mins to the A62 motorway (which connects Toulouse and Bordeaux).
