This beautiful 5 bed farm house for long term rentals in France, is located on the border of Dordogne, close to Bergerac. The house comes with a private heated pool, large garden (2 hectares) and secure parking for several cars.

The farmhouse is located in the small hamlet of Les Bérangers, in the commune of Saint-André-et-Appelles. The nearest town is Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, a medieval market town located on the banks of the Dordogne river. Bergerac is 25 mins drive and Bordeaux is just over 1 hour. The vineyards of Saint-Emilion are 30 mins north-west.

Available for long term rentals between October to May from €2,250 per month + bills. The minimum stay is normally 3 months. Pets may be accepted through prior agreement.

The farmhouse is laid out on one level and provides 165m2 of living space.

  • The comfortable living room is a generous space and contains exposed stone walls, terracotta tiled floor and a working fireplace. The lounge comes with 2 large sofas and a flat screen TV. There are 2 club armchairs near the fireplace, which are perfect for enjoying a good book or a glass of wine in front of the fire.
  • Next to the living room, there is a large kitchen and dining room ideal for family meals and entertaining. 
  • The kitchen features a large central island and comes equipped with electric oven, induction hob, microwave, large American fridge-freezer, dishwasher and plenty of cooking utensils.
  • The dining area has a table which can seat 8 people. Next to the dining area there is a large wine store.

There are 5 bedrooms, all of which come with central heating radiators.

  • The master bedroom offers a luxurious en-suite bathroom. The bedroom is fitted with a beautiful King-size double bed and a large antique wardrobe. The en-suite bathroom comes with exposed stone walls, a shower cubicle, WC and double sinks.
  • Bedroom 2 is a lovely room with exposed beams and stone walls. The bedroom comes with a King-size double bed and antique bench. There is a door out to the courtyard and garden
  • Bedroom 3 has a beautiful antique sleigh bed (standard size double bed,140cm x 200cm) and a dressing hanging space and storage.
    Bedroom 4 is fitted with a standard size double bed (140cm x 200cm) and comes with solid wooden floors and a window seat. 
    Bedroom 5 has a sofa bed which folds out to form a double bed.
  • The bathroom comes with a free-standing bath, walk-in shower, WC and marble wash basin

Outside

  • The private swimming pool (10m x 5m) is open from May to October and features a large sun terrace with plenty of sun loungers. For those cooler times of the year, the pool can be heated at an additional cost.
  • There is a lovely stone barbecue in between the house and the pool, which is perfect for al fresco dining
  • The extensive garden features a large lawn and children's play area.
  • Convenient separate parking ensures your vehicles are safely accommodated.

The house is conveniently located close to Bordeaux, Bergerac and St-Emilion and is an ideal base for a house hunting trip, wine tours or a long winter sabbatical.

Area activities

The farmhouse is located just a short drive from the medieval market town of Sainte Foy le Grande. The town was founded in 1076 and still contains many buildings dating back to the 15th Century. The town has a population of 2,500 people and holds a weekly market every Saturday. It is also home to a large shopping centre and a a delightful array of bakeries, restaurants, cinemas, and shops. 

Venture further afield to discover the renowned wine region of St Emilion, a mere 40 minutes away, or immerse yourself in the vibrant city of Bordeaux, just over an hour's drive. You can also catch the train from Sainte Foy le Grande to Bergerac

The house is located close to Chateau Vigiers golf course, one of the best courses in South West France, which also has a Michelin star restaurant Les Fresques.

Nearby, you will also find horse riding stables, tennis courts and fishing. For younger visitors there is plenty to do and see including canoeing on the Dordogne river, a Tree-climbing adventure park and an Aqua park with four 1,000 m2 swimming pools with water slides and direct access to the river. In the nearby town of Bergerac, there is Ten pin bowling, a professional go-karting course, mini-golf, Trampoline Parc and Laser Quest. Close to Sarlat-la-Canéda, you will find Aquarium du Périgord Noir, the largest private indoor aquarium in Europe.

The Dordogne is home to some of the prettiest villages in France and many are located in the local area, including:

  • Monpazier is an exceptional 13th century bastide town (fortified village) and it is widely recognised as among the most beautiful villages in France. The large open market square, which still holds weekly markets today, is always popular with visitors.
  • Limeuil has a popular river beach where the Vezere and Dordogne rivers join. 
  • The picture-postcard village of La Roque-Gageac is situated along the banks of the Dordogne river. 
  • Domme is a beautiful hilltop village with lovely honey-coloured stone buildings. Under the village there is an extensive network of caves. From the top of the village you have fabulous views across the river and countryside
  • Castelnaud-la-Chapelle is a very pretty village best known as the site of the Chateau de Castelnaud - the most visited castle in the region
  • Beynac-et-Cazenac is situated about 10km South-West of Sarlat, on the banks of the Dordogne river. The local castle here was once put under siege by Richard the Lionheart. 
  • Belves is one of the liveliest and most attractive medieval towns in Dordogne.

There is a train station in the nearby town of Sainte Foy le Grande, with services to Bergerac and Bordeaux.
