The cottage is located in the picturesque village of Saint-Germain-Des-Vaux, perched on the tip of the Cottentin peninsula, in the north-west tip of Normandy. It is quiet and offers superb beaches and walks directly from the doorstep. The village has a bar-restaurant as well as a grocery store. Further restaurants can be found a short drive away.
The Normandy region in northern France, is famous for its varied coastline, which includes white-chalk cliffs and sweeping beaches. Omaha Beach, the site of the famous D-Day landing is just 45 mins from the cottage. Just off the coast, the rocky island of Mont-Saint-Michel is topped by a beautiful Gothic abbey, which is the most-visited historic site in France outside of Paris. The city of Rouen, dominated by Cathédrale Notre-Dame, is where Joan of Arc, the famous military leader, was executed in 1431.
The ferry ports at nearby Cherbourg and Saint Malo, offer all round ferry services to Jersey, Guernsey, Plymouth, Poole and Portsmouth and Rosslare in Ireland.
There is a bus service from the village to Cherbourg.
