Lessac is a commune in the Charente department in southwestern France. About three kilometers north of the town center is the Château de Boisbuchet, built in 1865 on a hill above the Vienne. The chateau was bought in 1989 by the German art collector Alexander von Vegesack, for use during the summer months for workshops for artists, designers, architects and students.
The village of Lessac is conveniently located in between the large towns of Poitiers, Limoges and Angoulême and it also is serviced by the local towns of Confolens and Champagne-Mouton. This area of Charente is known as Charente-Limousin and features many lakes and dense woodland.
The old town of Confolens, with its bridge over the river Vienne, is a pleasant place to explore, as are the nearby villages of Brigueuil and Saint-Germain-de-Confolens. Not far from Brigueuil, the Chateau de Rochebrune is a small but picturesque moated castle.
There are TGV train stations in Poitiers, Limoges and Angoulême.
The airports at Limoges and Poitiers can both be accessed in under 1 hour.
