Area activities
Alignan du Vent is a lovely old wine producing village located in the middle of the Languedoc vineyards. The village streets are laid out in a circular pattern, which is common in the area and these type of historic villages are called ´circulades´. The village is well equipped with a bar, small restaurant/cafe, newsagent, pharmacy and boulangerie. On the edge of the village there is the wine co-operative and every Friday evening during the summer the village hosts a food and wine festival where you can drink, eat and dance away the night for an incredibly low price.
Surrounding Alignan du Vent you have the Languedoc coastline just 20-25 minutes drive (with excellent beaches at Vias Plage, Serignan, Marseillan Plage and Sete). The tourist resorts at Vias and Cap d´Agde provide all manner of entertainments (go karting, water parks, rollercoasters, watersports, golf - you name it!). Inland, there are plenty of interesting places to visit, including:
Pezenas (5 mins) - historic old town with an amazing Saturday market, plenty of antique shops and restaurants
Montpellier (40 mins) - excellent for shopping, Michelin star restaurants, nightlife, art museums
Marseillan (20 mins) - lovely old harbour town on the shores of the Etang du Thau, where you can eat fresh oysters and mussels straight off the boat
Carcassonne (50 mins) - historic castle and the second most visited monument in France
