La Grange is a 2 bed cottage for long term rentals located near the famous wine-making town of Limoux in Southern France. The cottage is set in over 2 hectares (6 acres) of secluded grounds and enjoys splendid views of the medieval hill-top village of Roquetaillade. The village is a short drive to Limoux and 35 mins from Carcassonne airport.
Limoux is famouse for producing sparkling wine, an early fore-runner of Champagne. The local countryside is dominated by vineyards and rolling hills, with views of the Pyrenees in the distance.
Le Grange cottage for long term rental Southern France - facilities
La Grange is a former barn that has been converted into a comfortable 2 bed cottage. It is located within the grounds of a farm and has access to the Owner's swimming pool and grounds. The cottage is laid out over 2 floors.
Ground floor
- Bedroom 1 comes with a double bed and fitted wardrobes.
- Bedroom 2 is a twin bedroom with fitted wardrobes.
- The bathroom contains two wash basins, a large walk-in shower with pebble stone floor, WC and washing machine.
First floor
The open plan living room has patio doors which lead out onto the private terrace.
- The lounge is furnished with comfortable sofas, a coffee table as well as TV and DVD/CD player. Wifi is available.
- The kitchen is fully equipped with table and chairs, fridge/freezer, electric hob/oven and a dishwasher.
Outside
- There is a private, walled terrace, which is equipped with garden furniture and a gas barbecue.
- The cottage is surrounded by extensive grounds, with footpaths through the woodland up to the hills above the farm.
- Guests are able to use the Owners' large swimming pool, which is heated and normally open from May to October.
- There is parking available at the entrance to the farm and next to the cottage.

La Grange cottage can be rented on a long term basis from October to April. In addition to the rent, there is a monthly provision of €175 towards the electricity, water and Wi-Fi. The minimum stay is normally 3 months. Pets may be accepted through prior agreement (limited to one small dog). Higher prices may apply to shorter rental periods. Not available between May to September.

Last visited: June 2024. If you are looking for total peace and tranquillity, then La Grange cottage is the perfect spot. La Grange is a 2 bedroom cottage with its own private terrace, which is set within the grounds of a former farm. The cottage is close to the market town of Limoux and just 35 mins from Carcassonne airport. Toulouse, Narbonne, the Pyrenees mountains and the Mediterranean beaches are all 1 hours drive.

Area activities
Domaine du Moulin is located on the outskirts of the small village of Roquetaillade in the Aude region of Southern France. Toulouse is 1 hour to the west, Narbonne is 1 hour to the east and the Mediterranean beaches and Pyrenees mountains can be reached in 1 hour.
The Aude department is one of the sunniest areas in France and it boasts two UNESCO World heritage sites, the fortified city of Carcassonne and the beautifully serene Canal du Midi. You can enjoy a relaxing day hiring a canal barge and floating down the canal. The Aude was also an important historical location for Catharism, a breakaway religion that spread rapidly in the region in the 13th century in this part of France. Locally, there are many ruins of Cathar castles, in what is dubbed "Cathar Country". The medieval castles at Peyrepertuse, Quéribus and Villerouge can still be visited today. For the more adventurous, the 200km Cathar Trail is highly recommended. It runs from the Mediterranean all the way to the Pyrenees and you can discover a number of medieval castles dotted along the way.
The Aude department also has some fine sandy beaches at Narbonne-Plage, Gruissan Plage and Port La Nouvelle, where people of all ages gather to top up their tans. The coastline around Narbonne is one of the best windsurfing spots in the world and more recently, has also developed a number of kite surfing centres.
Carcassonne is a wonderful town to visit throughout the year. During the summer, the fireworks over the castle on Bastille day are not to be missed. Also, Carcassonne Festival during July, brings together over 100 performances, including opera, dance, theatre and rock bands. Carcassonne also holds a large weekly market every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings at Place Carnot in the town centre.
The nearby market town has been producing a popular sparkling wine for centuries (way before Champange). The local legend tells how a travelling monk, Dom Perignon, came to Limoux, tasted the wine and brought the fermenting technique back to the Champagne region. The rest is history. You buy the Limoux version of Champagne, the Blanquette de Limoux, for a fraction of the price of Champagne. The local Cave cooperative also provides a short tour showing how the wine is made.
One of the best local markets however, is held on Monday in the nearby medieval town of Mirepoix. The ornate market square is a bustling site and the market takes over much of the town.
Other transport
There is a train station in Limoux, with train services up to Carcassonne. There is a local taxi company in Limoux which can bring you to and from Domain du Moulin (and from Carcassonne airport).
Airports
The nearest airport is located at Carcassonne, just 35 mins drive. Carcassonne airport has many low cost Ryanair flights to Dublin, Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Manchester and London.
Toulouse airport is 1 hour away and features regular flights from London Gatwick.
Driving directions
The village of Roquetaillade is located south of the market town of Limoux, on the D121 road. Carcassonne is 35 mins drive to the north.
